GEORGE PICKETT
(1752-1821) Colonel who served in the Revolutionary War 1777-1783. Afterwards he became a lawyer, merchant, and large land owner, at one time owning nearly 300,000 acres in Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia. He was also the grandfather of Civil War General George E. Pickett. Manuscript L.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Richmond, Jan. 23, 1796, a sight draft directed to George Simpson, cashier in the Bank of the United States, in part: : "...Pay to John Hopkins or to his order the amount of the dividend declared to me...Twenty four Shares in the Bank of the United States, and charge the same with or without further advice to the account...". Possibly trimmed at bottom margin, tiny hole not affecting text, boldly written and very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
