Description:

GEORGE III BROADSIDE EXPRESSING HIS PLEASURE UPON BEING CROWNED KING, 1760
Printed broadside, 13 3/4" x 18", printed by Mark Baskett and his assigns, 1761. The engraved broadside, bearing a large royal seal at top, is headed: "By the King, A PROCLAMATION, Declaring His Majesty's Pleasure touching His Royal Coronation, and the Solemnity Thereof.". The broadside, dated July 8, 1761 at St. James, expresses George's pleasure at the upcoming coronation, to be held on September 22, 1761. He lists the names of about fifty administrators and advises the public that on July 21 citizens may visit Westminster Palace and address those notables with their grievances. He further strictly advises those named, and indeed all civil servants, to heed any official orders that may be given them to address and grievances or petitions. Trimmed at margins, with a couple of negligible holes in the blank margins, tipped to a larger backing.
