GEORGE HARRISON(1943-2001) British musician, a lead guitarist for The Beatles. Rare signed book, Fifty Years Adrift, by Derek Taylor, Genesis Publications Ltd, Surrey, UK, 1984, hardcover 544pps., no. 745/2,000; profusely illustrated with eight color plates and over several hundred other illustrations, including photos, reproductions of art work, posters, correspondence, memorabilia and Beatles promotion materials. Edited by George Harrison and signed by him "George Harrison" in brown ink at the conclusion of the foreword on page vii, also signed by Taylor on the limitation page, and signed in pencil by artist of the end papers, Larry Smith ("Smith" on p. viii). Bound in brown half-calf and brown cloth; title in gilt letters on red background, gilt line decoration on the calf and front cover sailing-ship design; gilt edges. Enclosed are three letters on Genesis Publications Ltd letterhead, dated 1985 concerning sale of this book to the original owner, along with a 6" x 4" color photo of the book open & closed, and the invoice for the book dated Aug. 28, 1985. Derek Taylor was publicist for the Beatles, and was instrumental in their wide acceptance and rapid success. This book gives an insider's view of the rock and roll music business and offers an authoritative account of the Beatles' rise in popularity. Spine very lightly faded (as is the case with virtually all copies of this book, and easily restored), with slipcase.
