GEORGE, DUKE OF KENT
(1902 – 1942) English prince, the fourth son of King George V and Queen Mary. He held the title of Duke of Kent from 1934 until his death in a military plane crash on 25 August 1942. Rare, good content A.L.S. on crested letterhead, 2pp. 8vo., Coppius[?], Nov. 23, 1940 to the widow of one of his childhood friends. In part: "...It is very kind of him to have left me the Brass Brazier and two Maltese door knockers & I am much touched he should have thought of me after all these years - I hope you don''t fine Windsor too noisy but it is the same everywhere just now - what a horrible war this is but we shall win through - I am very busy with R.A.F. going round all over the country...". Fine, with 6" x 8" portrait.
