GEORGE C. WALLACE
(1919-1998) American politician and the 45th Governor of Alabama, having served two nonconsecutive terms and two consecutive terms as a Democrat. A 1972 assassination attempt left Wallace paralyzed, and he used a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. Lot of items related to Wallace's governorship and presidential campaign, including a I.S.P. , 8" x 10" color, paper clip park and slight creases in upper left corner, else very good. WITH: Partially-printed D.S wth printed signature., 1p. folio, Aug. 6, 1975, commissioning Alvin Russell as an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Aide-de-Camp in the Alabama State Militia. WITH: D.S., 1p. folio, Mar. 14 1967, by LURLEEN WALLACE (1926-1968), commissioning Henry M. Morris as an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel Aide-de-Camp in the Alabama State Militia. Lurleen, was George's wife, who succeeded him as Governor as a way of circumventing Alabama's term limit laws. WITH: Contribution envelope for the Wallace presidential campaign, with "Wallace for President" button.
