George Bryan 1731-1791) American jurist and President of the Pennsylvania Supreme Executive Council, an early abolitionist who in 1777 proposed to the Pennsylvania legislature that slavery be abolished to equally serve the cause of humanity and policy . D. S. signed twice, Ip. folio, Philadelphia, Jan. 24, 1782 on vellum. As Justice of the Supreme Court, Bryan witnesses an indenture concerning the transfer of a tract of land. Light toning along folds with tiny hole at one junction, no effect on signature nor loss of text. E2250-350
