Description:

Good pair of original Civil War carte de visite photographs, each 2 1/4" x 4" b/w, both portraits of Army of the Potomac commander Geroge B. McClellan. The first presents a full-length profile view of McClellan in uniform, with a pair of binoculars held behind his back. The verso bears the backstamp of photographer C.D. Frederick & Co. of New York, Havana, and Paris. The second presents a three-fourths length portrait of the general in uniform, with his hands resting on the hilt of his saber. The verso bears the backstamp of E. & H. T. Anthony of New York, indicating that the image originates from a negative by Matthew Brady. Both show minor toning and wear to the edges, else very good. Two pieces.
