GEORGE A. CUSTER
(1839 - 1876) Union major general of cavalry who fought in nearly every battle of the Army of the Potomac, including Gettysburg, and later met his tragic end at the hands of Cheyenne and Sioux warriors at the battle of Little Big Horn. Signature: "G. A. Custer" adding "B[revet] Maj[or] General, USA" on a 3" x 1 1/2" slip removed from a letter or document. Glue stain from mounting on the verso which does not affect the appearance, else very good.
