Description:

GEOFFREY O'HARA
(1882-1967) Canadian composer of songs, best remembered for his huge World War I hit "K-K-K Katy" (1918). A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo., Pawling, N.Y., Jan. 25, 1951, to Jamie, in part: "...Oh yes, there was something I meant to ask you in my recent letter, i.e. what years respectively were the firms of Ditson and Church absorbed by T.P. Co? if I am not too nosey?...I used to sell the Wm. Maxwell catalogue in 1906...when I was on tour. There are several excellent songs in that group which could be reviewed? The popular publishers are reviving 'turn of the century' things with astonishing success showing that there is a decided desire to have plain, pretty melodies sans modernism, songs written for the voice to sing, not for the feet to dance!...". Along with a vintage "War Edition" song sheet for "K-K-K- Katy". Two pieces, very good.
