Description:

GENERALARZT AND KNIGHT'S CROSS RECIPIENT WRITES TO GEN. FRANZ BOHME
Good lot of three signed letters penned to FRANZ BOHME (1885-1947) from a Generalarzt and his former subordinate HELMUTH RICHTER and his wife Cornelia, all dated 1941-42, including two penned on the verso of photo postcards and one typed on a 4to. sheet. Notable content includes: '...I was able to convey your good wishes to the C-in-C on my first evening. He reciprocates these very warmly, and could still recall clearly your meeting with him in Austria and on the Western front...My thoughts still often linger over the old circle of colleagues which had been built up...I still pine for the edelweiss and the mountain cap...Please give my kind regards to all my old colleagues, particularly Pemsel [certainly MAX PEMSEL (1897-1985) German lieutenant general, awarded the Knight's Cross, coordinated the first German response to the D-Day landings], and I wish you, together with the XVIII Mountain Corps, the best of success...I happened to meet Jais here today, and we talked eagerly...' One postcard also bears an A.N.S. by Knight's Cross recipient Gen. MAXIMILIAN JAIS (1891-1957), who adds: 'Dear General: From the Alpine hotel where I met Gen. (Med.) Richter...' Very good condition overall, sold with two transmittal envelopes.
