Description:

'GENERAL GORING' DIVISION INSIGNIA (5)
Five pieces of insignia from a member of the 'General Goring' division, specifically 1st Fallschirm-Panzer Division Hermann Goring, all cut from the same panzer wrap. Included is an eagle and cockade combination from an M43 cap, two white collar tabs with red-eyed totenkopfs, machine-sewn to a section of collar, a breast eagle, and a 6.5 in. long section of a 'General Goring' cuff title. Very good. According to our British consignor who obtained these pieces decades ago, the insignia originate from British M.P. Sgt. Albert Donkersloot. The sergeant was one of the first soldiers to enter Belsen concentration camp and encountered camp commandant Joseph Kramer whom he said he 'punched...until I was exhausted...' and then arrested. With clippings concerning Donkersloot.
