He was given command of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, and during his three tours in Vietnam, Patton, who frequently used helicopters as a mobile command post, was shot down three times and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and a second Silver Star. A great Patton piece, the general's green post-Vietnam major general's field shirt as commander of the 2nd Armored Division, with the matching pants. The pants are of course unadorned. Both the shirt and the pants are in fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of Patton's letter to a previous owner on his letterhead, 1p. 4to., Mar. 11, 1983. He states that all information about his father's 35 year5 career are available to the public, and: '...All his uniforms and clothing are now in museums. We only have remaining personal items and letters that our family will remain in possession of. I am forwarding to you an extra shirt and trousers that you requested...I trust you will receive them shortly...' From the estate of a major Pennsylvania military uniform collector.
