Description:

GEN. FRANZ HALDER'S VOIGTLANDER VITO BL CAMERA WITH CASE
A postwar camera once belonging to German Gen. FRANZ HALDER (1884–1972), a Voigtlander Vito BL 35mm. color camera, a popular viewfinder camera produced from 1956 to 1960. It was part of the Vito B series, notable for adding a selenium light meter (the 'L') to the basic Vito B model, offering manual focus, and using a Color-Skopar lens. It was a well-built, compact camera with features like a coupled aperture/shutter system (but uncoupled meter) and a distinctive top-plate meter operation. Complete with the original brown leather strap. Untested but apparently well cared-for. WITH: a strip of 24 positive 35mm. still images, all wartime photographs, five showing Halder and/or staff officers in the field at an unknown location, three showing the construction of what appear to be an administration building and barracks, the balance family photographs, presumably Halder's family. Some of the images are badly creased. WITH: unrelated two full boxes of German wood matches, presumably war-date, also belonging to Halder. Four pieces.
