GEN. FRANZ HALDER'S KYFFHAUSER CROSS OF MERIT
FRANZ HALDER (1884–1972) German general and the chief of staff of the Army High Command (OKH) from 1938-1942. He directed the planning and implementation of Operation Barbarossa, the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union. Offered here is Halder's Kyffhauser Cross of Merit, a World War I-era German decoration awarded by the Prussian State Veterans Association (PLKV) for meritorious service in war veterans' associations. The medal is a silver-washed cross featuring a central medallion of the Kyffhauser Monument, with the letters 'PLKV' between the arms on the front and the inscription 'Fur Verdienst im Kriegervereins Wesen' ('For Merit in the War Veterans Association') on the reverse. Lacking ribbon, very good to fine.
