Description:

FRIEDRICH PAULUS
Rare A.L.S. "Papi" with four additional signatures "Friedrich Paulus" (2) and "Paulus" (2) penned in address and return addresses, an official official Soviet P.O.W. postcard sent in an envelope from "Lager 7027" to his son Ernst in British-controlled occupied Germany, with appropriate British and Soviet censor stamps. In this Apr. 12, 1949 card, Paulus mention his receipt of several letters from friends and family, and extends birthday wishes to his son. Paulus asks about Ernst's lung disease, and tells his family that they now must keep a stiff upper lip. He hopes that his wife's health has improved as well. Paulus has seen many trains bringing German POWs back home but acknowledges that he won't be returning home soon. He hopes that the winter wasn't too hard on the family and that the kids will be able to play in the garden soon. Fine condition.
