FRIEDRICH JECKELN
(1895-1946) SS leader in the Soviet Union, personally responsible for ordering the deaths of 100,000 Jews and other "undesirables". Sentenced to death and hung at Riga. Fine association T.L.S. "Jeckeln" with indelible pencil on SS-Oberabschnitt Nord-West stamped letterhead, 1p. large 4to., Braunschweig, Apr. 24, 1934 to Heinrich Himmler in Munich. Jeckeln had been asked for a review on the performance of Herbert Gille, and advises that a review of the general's work in the SS had already been forwarded. General HERBERT GILLE (1897-1966), awarded of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds and of the German Cross in Gold, was the most highly decorated member of the Waffen-SS for his brilliant defense tactics.
