(1879 - 1972) World War I German ace credited with thirteen "kills", Korpsfuhrer of the National Socialist Flyers Corps, or NSFK, commander of the Wehrmacht in the Netherlands. Convicted of war crimes. S.P. signed twice, [n.p., n.d.], a postcard photograph of the passenger ship RIO BRAVO. On verso, Christiansen describes (in German) his service as master of the vessel the the vessel MEXICO. Fine. From 1924 to 1930, Christiansen was captain of the RIO BRAVO traveling from Europe to Mexico and the Caribbean. During these journeys, the RIO BRAVO rescued crew and passengers from distressed sea-going vessels several times. For example, 109 people shipwrecked from the American mail ship MEXICO were rescued and taken aboard. Christiansen was in turn given the highest award for a German sailor.
