Description:

FRIDJOF NANSEN
(1861 - 1930) Norwegian explorer who headed the first expedition across Greenland, attempted to reach the North Pole by drifting and later led an expedition as far north as 86.14 deg. T.L.S. " Fridjof Hansen" as Norwegian Ambassador to London on official diplomatic letterhead, 1p. 4to., London, Dec. 12, 1906, in Norwegian. Nansen replies to a publishing company regarding his book In Northern Mists: Arctic Explorations in Early Times (1911), in part "...It is right that at this time I am in the process of writing a new book about polar research. However, I am already in contact with my former publisher...it will not be possible for me to discuss this with you...". Nansen finishes his letter with a holographic note: "But I shall keep your firm in mind...". Very good.
