SIGMUND FREUD (1856 - 1939) Austrian neurologist and the founder of psychoanalysis, he theorized that repressed and forgotten impressions underlie all abnormal mental states, developed a theory of the relevance of dreams, and conceived the idea of the id, ego and superego. T.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Vienna, Dec. 2, 1927, in German to a colleague, probably Dr. Paul Federn, the eminent Austrian psychoanalytic theorist and close associate. Freud encloses a letter (not present), and adds: "...You know the answer to the first question that will be that you take over my consulting hours...". Very good to fine. $2,000 - 2,500
