(1753 – 1804) American military officer and senator from New Jersey. In 1779 he served as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress, then joined the militia and saw action at Trenton and Monmouth. In 1790, Washington appointed him as brigadier general for the 1790 campaign against the western Indians. A.D.S. signed three times, 1p. legal folio, [n.p., n.d. but likely Somerset Co., New Jersey ca. 1797]. As Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, Frelinghuysen pens a "true copy" of a certification by a board of electors that Robert Blair had been duly elected as sheriff.
