(1804 - 1869) Fourteenth President of the United States who initiated the Gadsden Purchase, opening up the Northwest for settlement. A.L.S. 1p. 4to., "Sullivan Co. Newport", [N.H.], Apr. 25, 1842 to an unnamed correspondent writing, "... I am in the midst of a trial for the breach of a promise of marriage - adjourned from the Court house to the largest meeting house which has been crowded -- you will judge of the intense interest of the case -- Our Gov elect [Henry Hubbard (1784 - 1857)] against me with witnesses now in my room I have hardly been able to skim over your letter - and I write today, that I will write [at] the first moment of leisure..." Light soiling, usual folds, else fine condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
