Description:

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT
(1882 - 1945) Thirty-second President of the United States who instituted the "New Deal" programs and who led the United States through most of World War II. T.L.S. as New York Governor boldly signed "Franklin D. Roosevelt" on State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead with gold-embossed state seal, 1p., 4to, Albany, Aug. 19, 1930, to Milton A. Miller, a 1924 Congressional candidate from Portland Oregon. In part: "...Thank you for your letter of August 11th. I will take the matter up with Congressman [Fiorello] LaGuardia, and I hope much that action can be taken at the next session of Congress...". LaGuardia, the eventual mayor and eponymous inspiration for many important New York City landmarks, represented the Italian-dominated East Harlem district as a Congressman through 1933. Minor browning on top left corner, else fine.
