Description:

Franklin D. Roosevelt Revealing D.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt as President, 4pp. sm. folio, Chautauqua, N.Y., Aug. 14, 1936, a mimeographed copy of the Address of the President boldly signed at the foot of the last page. While the Axis powers prepare their plans for world conquest, Roosevelt foresees the coming conflict and Americas role in it. In part: . I am more concerned and less cheerful about international world conditions... We seek no conquest: we stand for peace... the spirit of agreements to which we are a party is not lived up to... violated with impunity and without regard to the simple principles of honor... we shun political commitments which might entangle us in foreign wars... We are not isolationists [yet] even the nation which most ardently desires peace may be drawn into war. . I have seen the dead in the mud... I hate war... we can and will defend ourselves... We believe in democracy,- we believe in freedom . Much more excellent content clearly showing F.D.R's great fear of the United States being drawn into foreign wars. Folds, with very light wear.
