FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT IS LATE IN PAYING BILLS!
Scarce T.L.S. as Assistant Secretary of the Navy on official letterhead, with humorous content, 1p., 8vo., Washington, Dec. 11, 1913, replying to a debt collector. Roosevelt begged affairs of state for reason to not the $400 he owed to Edward Ford of Cambridge, MA, for the apparent purchase of naval relics: "Please find enclosed my check for $400 in payment of the collection which you forwarded me. Pardon my delay in this matter, but press of public business caused me to overlook it for the time. I will be very glad to hear from you any time you run across any more treasure trove in connection with naval subjects...". Boldly signed, "Franklin D Roosevelt". Central folds with faint toning, else fine.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
