Description:

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT
(1882 - 1945) Thirty-second President of the United States who instituted the "New Deal" programs and who led the United States through most of World War II. T.L.S. as President on White House letterhead, 1p., 4to., Washington, October 25, 1934, to one Martin Miller. Roosevelt shares Miller's interest in autographs: "...I have been much interested to learn of your collection of Presidential letters and am glad indeed to comply with your request for a note from me to add to it..." Roosevelt adds a holographic note to the end of his typed reply: "...I too am a collector..." Boldly signed, "Franklin D. Roosevelt". Fine, with evidence of previous mounting on verso, affecting nothing. Included with the lot is the transmittal envelope, stamp canceled in Washington D.C. and addressed (with signature) by IRVIN MCDUFFIE, Roosevelt's valet and caretaker.
