Francis Burdett 1770-1844 English political reformer who opposed war with France, urged prison reform and championed free speech. He was later imprisoned in the Tower of London for "treasonous" activity. A. L.S. 1p. 7in x 5in, Piccadilly, [n.d.], to Mr. Hardy urging that He meet a man named Duffin, and complaining of his gout. Tipped to another sheet one corner removed not affecting text minor soil.
