FRANCES MARSALIS
(d. 1934) American pilot who was a founder of the "Ninety Nines", a women's aviation club. On Jan. 8, 1934, Marsalis and co-pilot Helen Richey set the women's flight endurance record of 237 hours, 42 minutes. She would be killed the same year during the Cleveland Air Races. Lot of two rare S.P.s, each 8" x 10" b/w, one showing her in the cockpit of her racing plane, the second showing her and other female pilots standing before a large trophy. Fine. SOLD WITH: a third S.P. of female endurance pilot HELEN MCCLOSKEY, 8" x 10" b/w, standing before a biplane, as well as a signed photo of another unidentified pilot. Four pieces.
