The artist, Burgis, was active in America from 1716 to the mid 1730s. A superb view of early eighteenth-century New York City with several prominent buildings in view including Fort George together with Trinity Church, the Lutheran Church, the New Dutch Church, the French Eglise du Saint Esprit, City Hall, and the Old Dutch Church on Garden Street.
