FLAG OF THE LIPPE GUARD ASSOCIATION, CA. 1928
Rare and ornate flag from a guard association within the German region of Lippe, 47 x 46 in., One side bears a depiction of the Order of the Black Eagle at the center of a blue silk field, embroidered in thick silver bullion surrounding concentric circles of white and yellow silk. The white silk bears the motto of the Order 'Suum Cuique', embroidered in gold bullion, and two green laurels. At the center of the badge appears a black eagle with crown which grips laurels in the left claw and a scepter in the right claw. Each corner bears a depiction of a 1914 Iron Cross, constructed of black felt and stitched with fine silver bullion. The other side bears a yellow field with a finely-embroidered coat-of-arms of the region of Lippe - a large rose atop a gray shield - at the center. The legend 'Garde Verein Lippe' ('Guard Association Lippe') appears above the shield, while the date '17. 3. 1928.' has been embroidered below. Three edges are lined with 2 in. fringe, while the hoist edge is lined with a strip of gilt bullion and three large metal rings for hanging. Very fine condition, ideal for display.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
