Lot of four items, including: EDITH BOLLING GALT WILSON (1872-1961) First Lady of the United States from her marriage to Woodrow Wilson in 1915 until the end of his term in 1921. After her husband''s stroke in 1919, she was the first and the only first lady to ever assume presidential functions. A.N.S. on "Mrs. Woodrow Wilson" notecard, 2pp., 12mo., [n.p.], [n.d.], to "Mr. Sherley." Wilson writes to make arrangements for a meeting Friday Oct. 7. Signed in black ink at conclusion. Fine. WITH: GRACE COOLIDGE (1879-1957) First Lady of the United States from 1923 until 1929, notable for her advancement of popular causes such as the Red Cross, and for her work with deaf children. Free frank on a 5 1/2" x 4" envelope, postmarked May 18, 1956 at Northampton, Mass, to Carollyn Sue Dodd. Fine. WITH: LUCRETIA RUDOLPH GARFIELD (1832-1918) First Lady during the very short term of Set of two franked mourning envelopes, each 3 1/2" x 2 1/2", one postmarked at Camden, S.C, to Mr. C.E. Reince on April 6, 1901, the other postmarked at South Pasadena, C.A.to Mrs. Wayne MacBeagh. Light soiling throughout, else very good.
