Description:

Outstanding example of a rare Third Reich fireman's dress bayonet, 9 ¾" blade, 15" overall, with nickel-plated bird's head pommel and "S"-shaped crossguard, and with checked black composite grips secured with nickel-plated steel rivets. The mountings show absolutely no plating loss, and only the slightest of scratches. The nickel-plated steel blade shows a wide fuller on each side, with a sharp sawtooth back. The reverse ricasso bears the manufacturer's mark of the firm Puma of Solingen. The blade shows the faintest of run marks near the tip, and shows very slight play within the grip, but is otherwise in perfect condition with no plating loss evident. The weapon is housed in a black-painted steel scabbard, showing some light scuffs and scratches and fitted with a black leather frog. Attached to this frog is a fireman's portapee of braided red and silver bullion cord, with a flat brown leather strap decorated with bands of red and silver bullion thread, and with a braided brown leather, red and silver bullion thread slider. The portapee shows no damage whatsoever. A fantastic presentation, in very good to fine condition overall.
