Bound copy of the final pleas submitted by twenty of the major German war criminals tried in Nuremberg, as submitted by them at the conclusion of their trial on Aug. 31, 1946. There are in all 58 legal folio pages of printed typed text, in German, all contemporary to the trial. Among those represented are Goring, Hess, Ribbentrop, Keitel, Streicher, Jodl, Donitz, Rosenberg, Speer, and so on, with their comments varying widely. The first page bears the ownership signature of PHILIPP FEHL (1920-2000) Fehl was an Austrian artist and art historian who left Austria after the Anschluss. In 1943 he enrolled in the US Army and worked as an instructor in the re-educational program for German POWs held in the U.S. In 1945 he married Raina Fehl, daughter of the writer Erich Fritz Schweinburg. After his discharge from the Army, he and Raina were given appointments as interrogators at the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal. Through his work at the trials, he became well acquainted with a number of war criminals who had exercised direct influence on German art as well as others who committed crimes against humanity. He gives detailed descriptions of his work at the trials in the portion of his memoirs entitled "The Ghosts of Nuremberg." Six original press photographs, each 5" x 4", showing various proceedings at the trial including testimony by Ribbentrop, Frick, and others.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
