Historic printed booklet: "Final Plans for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom August 28, 1963", 12pp. 5" x 8 1/4", issued in New York by march organizers Bayard Rustin and Cleveland Robinson. This manual was the second and last set on instructions issued to march organizers and it has been underlined and marked throughout showing its use on the scene. Contents include identification of those sponsoring the march, including Dr. King, demands being made by the marchers, immediate tasks at hand prior to the march (organizing transport, gathering unemployed, raise funds), transport to and from Washington, schedules, signs and banners, captains and marshals, etc. An important grass-roots level organizer''s document. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was one of the largest political rallies for human rights in U.S. history. It took place in Washington, D.C. on August 27, 1963 and the next day Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech in which he called for an end to racism. The march is credited with helping to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Sold with: a 8 1/2" x 11" two-sided flyer issued in San Francisco picturing Dr. Martin Luther King, headed "Living the Dream", promotes participation in a mass and a march on Jan. 20, 1986, the first time the federal government decreed King''s birthday a national holiday.
