Description:

Large file of approx. fifty signed letters, documents, circulars and retained copies of letters mailed, all surrounding the career of SS-Untersturmfuhrer Hans Weissenbock and covering his service from June, 1937 to September, 1944. Wiessenbock, born in Baden in 1912, served the vast majority of his career under SS-Obergruppenfuhrer AUGUST HEISSMEYER, including combat duty in the Crimea with the 1st SS Cavalry Regt. for which he would receive a German Cross in Gold, a one-month stint with the L.S.A.H., and in a position teaching racial theory for the National Political Institutes of Education (NPEA). The goal of these schools was to train future leaders, and especially given the influence of the SS, it was hoped that graduates would choose a career in the SS or police. The archive opens with 1 June, 1937 outline on the SS course on race theory, including 'keeping the stock pure'; certificate of SS membership; appointment as a lecturer to the Vienna police force; orders to report for training, his contract of employment with the Austrian National Educational Institutions and related promotions; biographical descriptions; performance evaluations; requests for details on his ancestral past as well of that of his wife; transmittal letter for his Ostmedaille; authorization to hold a target practice with Hitler Youth; circulars with revisions and additions to SS regulations; confirmation of his promotion; SS regulations on 'shaking hands'; printed teaching regulations, and many pieces concerning routine matters. Many of these items are on the rare letterhead of 'Reichsfurung-SS Dienstelle SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Heissmeyer'. Copies of Weissenbock's military file are also present. Very good.
