FIGHTER GROUP 54
A grouping of eight items by members of the "Grunherz" (Greenheart) fighter group, includes: HANNES TRAUTLOFT, Knights Cross winner with 58 victories, he devised the "Green Heart" emblem of Jagdgeschwader 54, adopting the regional emblem of his birth place in Thuringia ("the great heart of Germany"). Two 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" identical S.P.s showing him in the cockpit of his plane with a green heart painted on it. One is signed "Trautloft" and dated Feb. 2, 1942 on verso, while the other is inscribed: "To Richard Calow Hannes Trautloft former Commander Jagdgeschwader 54, Grunherz"; DIETRICH HRABEK, last commander of the Jagdgeschwader 54 from Oct. 1944 - May 8, 1945, Knights Cross winner with Oak Leaves with over 100 victories. S.P. 4" x 6" b/w, with an A.L.S. transmitting the photo, with holograph envelope; HUGO BROCH, Knights Cross winner with 81 victories, S.P. 3 /2" x 4 1/2" b/w: "Horrido Hugo Broch 6. II. JG 54", with A.L.S. citing the highlights of his career; ERWIN LEYKAUF, ace with 33 victories, S.P. 4" x 6" b/w, with signature on front and A.N.S. on verso: "This picture 1940/41 gunner for air battle above England. JG 26/JG 54/JG3". Along with a post-war candid showing the former ace playing a guitar beneath a propeller mounted to the ceiling of a room, signed on verso: " propeller origin of ME[sserschmitt] 109 F.". The photo shows Leykauf with another ace, noted as: "W[erner] Pichon Kalau v. Hofe former T.O. JG 54". Pichon-Kalau was awarded the Ehrenpokal (Honor Cup), and flew with Mölders. Eight items, very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arrange through the auction house.
