Description:

FIDEL CASTRO
(1926 - 2016) Cuban revolutionary who led the guerilla campaign against Batista, overthrowing the dictator and replacing him with the first communist government in the Western Hemisphere. Third edition of the historical fiction book by Marta Rojas: 'La Generacion Del Centenario En El Juicio Del Moncada' ('The Centennial Generation in the Moncada Trial') (Havana: Social Sciences Publishers), no year. 427pp. 8vo., red boards with gilt title on the spine. Adjacent to the publishing page is a page bearing a printed dedication from the author, in full: 'To the many who fell and the few who believed, from the start, in Fidel.'. On this same page Castro writes a brief note to the author, in part: 'Marta: After patiently reading your magnificent 'speech' I signal in your examples...that have been analyzed by me profoundly. I am plainly convinced of the veracity with which you narrated these unforgettable accomplishments of our revolutionary fight. I congratulate you, and I send you this note, with these accomplishments for the institute.', signed at the conclusion, adding the date July 30, 1973. At this time Castro was quite busy visiting various leftist allies to Cuba such as Germany, the Soviet Union, Poland, Hungary, etc. and urging the regimes to assist in revolutionary movements in other parts of the world, particularly Vietnam. Toned page edges, else very good.
