FERDINAND JODL
(1896 - 1956) German general during World War II, commanded the Mountain Corps Norway during the Petsamo–Kirkenes Offensive. Typed war-date D.S., 4pp. 4to., [n.p.], Dec. 21, 1943, recommending Oberstlt. i.G. Muller be awarded the German Cross in Silver. The document lists his accomplishments such as his special skills as Quartermaster and the advancement on Murmansk while he was Captain of the Mountain Corps of Norway. In part: '...In summary, since the start of the campaign against Norway in the Nordic theater of war, he has been employed in changing areas of responsibility and was last awarded in June 1940, he has earned merits in military warfare that go far beyond the normal standard. He is particularly worthy of being awarded the German Cross in Silver...the award of the German Cross in Silver to Oberslt. i.G. Muller is warmly endorsed...' Signed at conclusion by Jodl and Supreme Commander of the West. Shows file holes at the left margin, with staples holes at upper left, else very good.
