ERSKINE CALDWELL
(1903 - 1987) American novelist and short story writer, author of Tobacco Road and God's Little Acre. A fine archive of material by the acclaimed Southern writer, includes: six T.L.S.s dating from 1965-1983, to various correspondents and some with fine content. He writes, on July 26, 1965 to critic John Sherman, in part: "...I'm sure, like a lot of other people who read your column, that you have brought alive many theatrical memories. I did not see all the plays you mentioned recently...when they are not done by actors who created the roles, I have a tick about such plays...I guess we won't see another authentic presentation of 'Tobacco Road', though stock companies are constantly trying...Now that I've got 'In Search of Bisco' published, I've been in the Deep South for the past month looking about...". Other letters include details about obtaining copies of his books. Along with three T.Ms.S. 1p. 4to. each, being quotes from his works All Night Long and The Weather Shelter prepared for a collector and boldly signed; together with three S.P.s, two 3" x 4" b/w and third 8" x 10" b/w. Fine condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
