Description:

ERNST ROHM
(1887 - 1934) Nazi Brownshirt who organized, trained and headed the SA, a friend of Hitler who was at his side in the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, later set-up and executed by Hitler following their disagreement on the use of the two million-strong SA. Good content T.L.S. "Rohm" as Chief of Staff of the SA, 1p. 4to., [n.p.], March 3, 1932, to SA "Gruppenfuhrer West". Rohm informs his correspondent of the imminent expulsion of an NSDAP member for embezzlement, in part: "... I am telling you confidentially... that the E[mbe]zzl[ement] C[ommittee] of the Reich Leadership has arrived at the frim conviction that in his handling of the collection for the accident victims in Alsdorf, Dr. Haltern has exposed the Party to the danger of the gravest damages. Dr. Haltern has to date still not forwarded the entire amount of money collected, although this has long since been ordered by the top leadership of the SA... I was originally willing to retain Dr. Haltern in his struggle for survival at all costs, but am of course no longer in the position of doing so in the face of the facts of the situation..." Rohm signs boldly at the conclusion in red indelible pencil. Shows original folds, file holes at the left margin and minute tears to the bottom edge mended on the verso with archival tape, with staple holes and a paper clip mark at top left, else very good.
