Description:

(1899 - 1945) Reichsphysician SS and police official, Grawitz advised Heinrich Himmler on the use of gas chambers and carried out brutal medical experiments on Nazi concentration camp prisoners. Grawitz was also a physician in the Fuhrerbunker. As high-level ranking Nazis fled Berlin, Grawitz committed suicide by detonating two grenades at the dinner table, thus obliterating himself and his family. Rare typed D.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, Jan. 30, 1940, appointing SS-Oberscharfuhrer Franz-Hartwig Pohls a "reservefuhreranwarter" ("reserve leader candidate") in the Waffen-SS. Grawitz signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows heavy original folds, with the sheet completely separated along the horizontal fold and repaired on the verso with cello tape, and with additional minor splits to the remaining folds, light foxing and paper clip marks at the top and bottom edges, else very good.
