ERNST KALTENBRUNNER'S "DEATH'S HEAD" CUFFLINKS
ERNST KALTENBRUNNER (1903 - 1946) Chief of the S.D. who replaced Heydrich, he was a rabid anti-Semite who greatly increased efforts to round-up Jews, and also urged the murder of parachutists. Executed at Nuremburg. A pair of silver SS "Totenkopf" (or "Death's Head") cufflinks or lapel devices, each about 7/8" diameter, with swivel attachments on verso. Each emblem is hallmarked "L/26" with a second mark resembling a Maltese cross. The cufflinks are attributed to Kaltenbrunner, and appear in previous owner Dr. John Lattimer's book Hitler's Fatal Sickness, p. 176. No further provenance is available at this time, but for Lattimer's file folder which container the relic. Ex: Lattimer Collection.
