(1900 - 1945) American journalist who covered the Allied campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, France and the Far East, killed at Okinawa. Rare pair of signed items, includes: fine content war-date T.L.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., "France", Aug. 7, 1944 to "Shorty". In part: "...Yes, I'm the same guy you used to know in Washington...I've been traveling and writing this daily column ever since then. I've been overseas with this damn war nearly two and a half years and I'm mighty sick of it. But I have a feeling it won't be too long now before it's over -- the European one, I mean...I frequently run into some of our old aviation acquaintances now scattered all over the world...We are all pretty tired out with the war. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
