Description:

(1876 - 1960) Commander and Chief of the German Navy (1933 - 1943) who was largely responsible for its expansion. Retired over growing differences with Hitler. Fine content T.L.S. on OKM letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, June 24, 1940 to German admiral HUBERT SCHMUNDT. In part: "...Unfortunately, I still have not gotten around to congratulating you on the award the Fuhrer has given you on my suggestion...I considered the part of the task you were carrying out to be the weakest point in the Norway undertaking...I highly estimated the energetic and purposeful undertaking of the task by you..." Folds, marginal file holds, else fine. SCHMUNDT had been awarded his Knights Cross ten days earlier for his role as commander in chief of the Aufklärungs-Streitkräfte and leader of the Kampfgruppe Bergen during the invasion of Norway. WITH: an 8" x 10" b/w Signal Corps photo of Raeder making a final statement at the Nuremberg Trials.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
