Erastus B. Tyler 1822-1891 Union brigadier general who fought at Kernstown and Chancellorsville, and led an assault on Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg. Good content A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., Ravenna, Dec. 30, 1864 to Rep. Robert Pain. Tyler suggests changes in state militia rules, in part: the company shall be allowed for actual compensation of duty... Brigadier general shall give orders on the Treasurer each county raise 480 men exclusive of field and staff officers allow the arrest of any officer for disobedience... to be tried by court martial.
