Erasmus D. Keyes 1801-1895 Union major general who commanded a brigade at Bull Run, and led a corps in diversionary moves during Gettysburg. War date A.D.S. Dec. 10, 1861 on a secretarial letter from Gen. John J. Peck requesting orderlies. Keyes responds on verso: Order four men from the cavalry to report to Genl. Peck as orderlies temporarily attached to some company of Genl Peck's command. . see that the horses have the same shelter and forage as other public horses.
