ENOLA GAY AND BOCKS CAR
Pair of items signed by crew members of the Enola Gay which dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, and crew members of Bocks Car which had the same mission to Nagasaki three days later. The first: an envelope belonging to Enola Gay radar specialist JACOB BESER and bearing a 509th Composite Group cancel, 1990, signed on the face by Enola Gay crewmen PAUL TIBBETS, TOM FEREBEE, THEODORE J. VAN KIRK, JACOB BESER, GEORGE R. CARON, and RICHARD NELSON, and by Bocks Car crewmen CHARLES SWEENEY, JAMES F. VAN PELT, FRED J. OLIVI, CHARLES ALBURY, and also by FRED BOCK who flew the Great Artiste. Also present is an artist's print of the Enola Gay signed by 17 members of the 509th, several at the least who flew in other support craft during the bombing missions. Included are: PAUL TIBBETS, DICK NELSON, THEODORE VAN KIRK, GEORGE H. COHEN, HUGH FERGUSON, RAY "SPEEDY" BIEL, THOMAS COSTA, DICK CANNON, and others. Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 14 - 21 days for shipments to arrive after receipt of payment due to the high volume of package being shipped.
