Description:

(1895 - 1974) American flying ace during World War I. He was credited with eleven confirmed aerial victories while flying with the Royal Air Force. Good content T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Westminster, Md., Feb. 18, 1968. In small part: "...I was shocked...when you only gave me credit for nine planes shot downI could have used some of Eddie Rickenbacker's prestige after the war but Canada did not take or make much interest in their veteransI am going to write something now that I have never written beforea lot of hanky panky went on in the First War air squadrons. Most Commanding Officers naturally wanted as many victories for their own squadronscommanding officer was inclined to take his [ace's accounts] word when he reported a plane shot down" Lussier mentions some of the top aces, implying that they were built-up for propaganda purposes, and mentions his own experiences with men in his squadron making fake "kill" reports. He then describes his upbringing and Canadian heritage, and his citizenship. Folds else very good.
