Fine content A.L.S. 3pp. 8vo., New York, Feb. 16,1885 to William C. Bryant. Parker supports his people: There are so many covert as well [as] open schemes to under mine the Indians of every vestige of the few rights remaining to them I am glad you are organizing an Ind[ian] aid association. Parker then discusses his language: . . The Iroquois is not now spoken as it once was... all Iroquois names are clan names. the number of children may have been materially lessened after Suilivan's campaign, for he decimated them most unmercifully... the name Otetiani [has not] been borne by any other Iroquois since Red Jacket...
