Description:

Elvis Presley Original Art for Unreleased "G. I. Blues" Movie Poster
This one-of-a-kind gem was presumably created by the Paramount Pictures promotion department to be reproduced on movie posters, magazine, and newspapers for Presley's 1960 movie, "G. I. Blues." It is a marked departure from the released version, which features Elvis embracing co-star Juliet Prowse, along with girls dancing as Elvis is playing his guitar. The image on the painting does, however, closely approximate the pose seen on the cover of the soundtrack album released in October 1960, a few weeks before the film's release. The 26" x 33" painting, executed in watercolor and gouache on illustration board, exhibits some minor stains and scuffs, some non-intrusive pin holes in the lower portion of Elvis' uniform, and a small tear through the "V" in "Elvis." The unsigned painting is mounted in a carved wood, plexiglass frame.
