913. (EPHRAIM ELMER ELLSWORTH) (1837-1861) Union officer and a close friend of Lincoln, leader of `Ellsworth's Zouaves" who was killed by a hotel owner in Alexandria after tearing down a Confederate flag which had flown above the hotel. A great early war-date CDV depicting Col. Elmer E. Ellsworth wearing a kepi. Facsimile signature beneath the image while the photographer had lovingly tinted his cheeks to give the image a life-like look. No photographer's imprint. Mount trimmed, else very good. $100-150
